Clarice as Temporary Administrative Assistant

Hi. I am Clarice Bethers (also known as Pastor Karen and Brad’s daughter). I came from CA in October to be supervisor of RLC’s Safe Space for Schooling Program. I will be temporarily assuming the role of administrative assistant as we are diligently searching for a permanent replacement. Since the SSS program is wrapping up, I have a little flexibility until I return home, but my hours may vary a bit. If you have any questions or recommendations, please feel free to contact the office via email or by phone.

UPCOMING COMMEMORATIONS

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, theologian, died 1945

Friday, April 9, 2021

Bonhoeffer was a German theologian who wrote profoundly, yet in an accessible manner. In the Second World War, he became a leader of the Confessing Church in Germany that resisted the Nazi movement. Linked to a plot to kill Hitler, he was hanged shortly before the end of the war.

Mikael Agricola, Bishop of Turku, died 1557

Saturday, April 10, 2021

Consecrated bishop of Turku, Finland, without the approval of the pope, Agricola began a reform along Lutheran lines. In only three years, he translated the New Testament and worship texts into Finnish, in the process establishing the rules of Finnish writing that are still used today.

Home Communion

Here are are two different versions of a home communion service available to be lead by your head of household:

Holy Communion is never a spectator sport where only a few are privileged to partake.  Including Holy Communion in a virtual service with no instruction on how those viewer might partake leans heavily into a Roman Catholic understanding of the Eucharist, and even more poignantly, right now the Roman Catholic Church is asking their members to keep the fast from the Eucharist until we can gather again.
