Change for Good - How did it start?
There is a pun in that phrase…to change from something that is other-than-good to something that IS good, and to change not just for a moment, but for good, for all a time. Our Christian pilgrimage is in response to that grace that changes us for good by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
To remember and celebrate God's love given to us so freely, gather up your quarters, pennies, dimes and nickels throughout the week, and drop them into the ‘Change for Good’ containeron the baptismal font.
Some examples of how Change for Good changes the world!
In November the “Change for Good” vase in the sanctuary provided funds for one goat and a grove of ten fruit seedlings. Check the board in the narthex for other ways “Change for Good” has helped this year!
In September our “Change for Good” jar received $100 from the container placed by the cash register at the Russian Shop. This container indicates that moneys received will go toward a goat. RLC chose to buy one goat and a cookstove. Check the board in the narthex to see other ways “Change for Good” has helped this year!
In August, an anonymous donor offered to match the contents of the jar once counted with the under- standing that the donation would go to disaster relief for Louisiana flooding. So—change for good provided disaster relief, PLUS two goats, an efficiency stove, and water purification tablets. By publishing time June change for good jars had provided partial funding for a microloan for a woman, an energy efficient cook stove, a girl’s school uniform, food for two refugee families for a week, clinic visits for two children, and 7,000 water purification tablets.

The first July count of Change for Good was $300: our jar, House of Russia's donation jar, and a $100 gift. The congregation voted for two goats (YEA, Goats!) and two groves of fruit trees, which provide fruit plus root systems to prevent erosion in places like Indonesia. The next jarful yielded $80 which purchased a pig and water purification tablets.
In June, we were able to provide supplies for 2 health clinics and financial support for those impacted by the floods in Texas.
CURT’S SUCCESSFUL BIRTHDAY OFFER
In celebration of his March birthday, Curt offered to match the contents of Change for Good container as of March 22, up to the value of two goats. RLC put him to the test with $200 plus!
