HELP WANTED TREASURER
Are you a member who is comfortable working with numbers?
Do you have experience in using software for your personal or business needs?
Are you willing to learn new software, specifically Shepherd’s Staff, Payroll Mate, and Excel?
Are you interested in joining RLC’s management circle and providing the behind-the-scenes financial work that enables the missions of RLC to be carried out?
Are you willing to contribute time for the good of the congregation?
In short, are you interested in the office of Treasurer of Resurrection Lutheran Church?
The RLC treasurer is required to be an adult (confirmed) member of the congregation, but need not be on the Congregation Council. The newly elected and carry-over members of the Council have found that none of them is interested in taking on the office of treasurer. The current treasurer, Mike McMullen, announced over a year ago his intention to not serve a term beyond this year. Therefore, the Congregation Council, as it will be constituted as of July 1, is looking for a congregation member outside the Council to be our treasurer.
The responsibilities of the treasurer are contained in the congregation’s by-laws: “The treasurer shall keep the books of account of this congregation. This person shall receive all funds and disburse them properly, making monthly remittance of benevolence and partnership receipts.”
Procedures and processes are in place for carrying out the treasurer’s responsibilities. A new treasurer will not have to reinvent them. Several people perform specific functions which makes the treasurer’s own required activity easier. Receipt of all funds is recorded by the counters. Deposits are made by the office manager. The contribution recorder enters the information required to provide the quarterly and annual reports for income tax purposes. The office manager also mails signed checks. A Treasurer’s Manual will be completed by the time a new treasurer is selected.
The treasurer estimates the following time requirements: Processing bills once per week
Preparing payroll on last day of the month Preparing partnership checks when month-end information is available Monthly reconciling of bank accounts and preparing of reports. Attend monthly council meeting
Altar Care: Only four people currently serve in this capacity. They travel. They have other responsibilities. Another volunteer would be most welcome. If you are called to this ministry, let the office know. You will learn how it is done and become part of the team!
Food Bank: The people of Juneau depend on us! Please consider giving a little of your time so that we don’t have to turn away those in need.
PowerPoint: An additional person to key the bulletin information into the PowerPoint presentation would be welcome!!

Generosity. When has another person given you a gift of grace? When has someone surprised you with a generous gift? When have you experienced abundant joy as a result of giving?
